How pricing works when we come to your home
A home visit does not change how coins get priced. Metal coins and bullion are figured on weight, purity and today's live spot. Collector coins are priced on date, mint mark, grade and current dealer demand. Graded slabs start from the grade on the label. The only difference is the table, which is yours instead of ours. You still get every number in writing, coin by coin or group by group, before anything changes hands.
One $20 Saint-Gaudens double eagle from a home safe at today's spot price
33.436 grams × 90% gold = 0.9675 troy oz × spot $4,120.54 = $3,986.59 in metal
Melt value only. Collector value, when an item has it, is priced separately and shown to you at the table.
When a home appointment makes sense
- A safe or cabinet holds more coins than one person can lift or carry safely.
- A full estate has albums, rolls, bars and jewelry spread across several rooms.
- The seller cannot easily travel across town or sit through a trip in traffic.
- Several heirs want to watch the sorting together in the family home.
- A large stack of bullion feels riskier to move than to have a buyer come to it.
- The family is still finding coins room by room during an estate clean-out.

You get a written offer. Accept and get paid that visit, or keep everything along with the written list.
How a home visit works, start to finish
It starts with a phone call. Tell us what you have found, where it is stored, and who will be there. A rough description helps us plan: three albums and a safe, or a garage full of rolls, or a closet of bars and gold coins. We set a weekday time and confirm the details the day before.
When we arrive, we ask you to show us where everything is, then we pick one table to work at, ideally in a room with good light and a door. Coins come to the table one group at a time. Nothing leaves your sight, and nothing goes into another room.
Each group gets the same treatment it would get at an office appointment. We count it, check the coins for date, mint mark, grade and eye appeal, and confirm metal content and weight. Better coins get pulled and noted separately. The written list grows as we go, so you can follow along and ask about any line.
At the end you get a written offer for the lot, broken out by item or group. If you accept, we inventory what we are taking, you get a copy, and you are paid that visit. If you decline, everything stays exactly where it is, and the list stays with you.
Who should be there, and what to have ready
A little preparation turns a long visit into a smooth one. These are the things families tell us they wish they had known beforehand.
- The owner or executor, with a driver's license or state ID. Texas law requires us to record it.
- Whoever knows the safe combination or has the keys. Open a locked safe before the visit; call a locksmith ahead of time if nobody can.
- Any heirs who want to watch, plus one trusted friend if the seller would feel better with company.
- A clear table near good light, with room for albums laid flat.
- Every coin, bill and bar you can safely move, brought into one room. Leave heavy items where they are.
- Original boxes, holders, receipts and any written notes the collector kept.
- Coins left uncleaned and in their original rolls and folders.
- Pets settled in another room, and gate codes or parking directions shared when you book.
Keeping a home visit private and safe
A house with coins in it deserves some care. Book by phone, and keep the visit off social media and out of conversations with estate sale crews, contractors or neighbors. The fewer people who know a safe is full of gold, the better.
Large cash payments in a home are not always comfortable. For bigger sales, payment by check or wire keeps money out of the house and gives you a clean paper trail for the estate. We will talk through which option suits you when we set up the visit.
After we leave, put anything you kept back in the safe or a bank box that same day. Keep the written list somewhere separate from the coins, so the family has a record even if something goes missing later.
When we set up the visit, we confirm the time and who is coming. If anyone shows up at your door claiming to be us without a booked appointment, do not let them in, and call (469) 754-8608.
What Dallas home appointments tend to look like
Dallas homes rarely have basements, so coin collections end up in closets, attics, under beds and, more and more often, in big steel safes bolted to a garage floor. Those safes can weigh more than a refrigerator before a single coin goes in. Moving the contents across town in a sedan is exactly the kind of risk a home appointment avoids.
Heat is a real issue here. A garage in Preston Hollow or Lake Highlands can pass 110 degrees on an August afternoon, and coins stored in an attic sit through the same thing every summer. We ask families to bring what they can into an air-conditioned room before we arrive. It makes the work easier on everyone, and it lets us look at coins without sweat dripping on the table.
High-rise living brings its own steps. Many longtime collectors now live in condos along Turtle Creek or in Uptown towers with a front desk and a parking garage. Let the concierge know a visitor is coming, and tell us when you book which entrance and which visitor spaces to use. Gated streets in North Dallas work the same way: share the code ahead of time so nobody waits at the gate.
Weekday traffic on Central Expressway and LBJ can be slow, so mid-morning and early afternoon visits tend to run smoothly. We will suggest a window when we talk, though the choice of time is yours within our Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm hours.
We set up each home appointment by phone, and whether a visit fits depends on the size of the collection and where it sits. Call (469) 754-8608, tell us what you have, and we will work out the details together. If a home visit is not the right fit, we will say so and set up an office appointment instead, with directions sent when you book.

Common questions
Is there a charge for a home appointment?
The appraisal itself is free and comes with no obligation to sell. Call (469) 754-8608 and we will go over what a home visit involves for your collection before anything is scheduled.
Will you come to my part of town?
Call and tell us where the collection is and roughly what it includes. We set up each home appointment by phone and will let you know on that first call.
How long does a home appointment take?
It depends on the size of the collection and how much sorting it needs. A safe of graded coins goes faster than a garage of mixed rolls. We will give you a rough idea on the phone once we hear what you have.
Do I still need ID if you come to my house?
Yes. Texas law requires us to record the seller's photo ID wherever the purchase happens. Have a driver's license or state ID ready.
Can you open a locked safe?
No. Please have the safe opened before we arrive, either by someone who knows the combination or by a locksmith. We can reschedule if it takes longer than expected.
How do I get paid at a home appointment?
If you accept the written offer, you are paid that visit. Options are cash, check, or wire for larger sales, and many families prefer check or wire so cash does not sit in the house.
Can we get a written appraisal without selling?
Yes. Many families want an item-by-item list for probate, insurance or dividing the estate among heirs. Ask for it when you book, and you keep every coin.
