Lewisville, the lake and the coins people keep
Long before the lake, this was Holford's Prairie, settled by Baptist families from Missouri in the early 1840s. The town took its present name in 1853 after a new landowner bought the tract, and the railroad arrived in 1881. Lewisville did not incorporate until 1925, and the vote passed by only 17 votes. Old Town, around Main and Mill streets, still holds that small-town grid, now with the Lewisville Grand Theater and a busy calendar of street events.
The real turning point came in 1954, when the Garza-Little Elm Dam was finished and Lewisville Lake filled behind it. Boat ramps, marinas and lake houses followed, and Lewisville grew into one of the biggest boat-sales markets in Texas. Ask anyone who grew up here and they will mention the lake before the freeway.
Lake life shows up in the coins we see. Silver kept in a lake cabin, a boat locker or a garage near the water often comes to us darkened or spotted from years of humid air. Please do not scrub it. Toning does not hurt the silver content, and on some collector coins, even and attractive toning can help. Cleaning is different: it strips the surface and lowers the grade for good. Bring it as you found it.
Lewisville also had a moment in rock history. Over Labor Day weekend in 1969 the Texas International Pop Festival drew a huge crowd to the speedway grounds near town. Some of the people who were there now have grown children sorting their houses, and the coins in those homes often reflect a working life that started around then: Silver Eagles bought each year after 1986, 40% silver halves from 1965 to 1970, war nickels, and a coffee can of 90% silver dimes and quarters pulled from change.
Newer Lewisville households near Vista Ridge, which opened in 1989, and in the subdivisions along the lake's southern shore tend to bring bullion and gold. A one ounce Gold Eagle, a few Maple Leafs, a handful of silver rounds bought online during a price spike. These sell from today's spot price, and we show the live number on screen so you can see where the offer comes from.
Lewisville sellers should pack a photo ID, leave coins in whatever holders they came in, and keep paper money flat. We meet on weekdays by request, and an estate too big to load in the car is a good reason to call to set up a home appointment.

Selling coins from Lewisville
My silver coins turned dark sitting in a lake house. Did that ruin them?
No. Tarnish and toning do not change the silver content, and the coins still sell on weight at minimum. Do not clean them, because cleaning lowers the grade on any coin with collector value.
I bought silver rounds online a few years ago. Will you buy those?
Yes. We test them with an XRF reader, weigh them and price them from today's silver spot. Bring any receipts if you have them, though they are not required.
Do I have to sell the whole lot at once?
No. The written offer lists every item, so you can sell a few pieces and carry the rest home. Plenty of Lewisville sellers hold back a coin or two for the grandkids.
What do I need to bring to my appointment?
A driver's license or state ID goes on record for every sale under Texas law, so have one with you. Beyond that, just the coins, untouched.
