Flower Mound collections, from the Mound to the airport
The town takes its name from a real hill. The Mound, about 12.5 acres of native prairie near FM 3040 and Long Prairie Road, rises roughly 50 feet above the land around it and still blooms with wildflowers each spring. Presbyterian families held camp meetings nearby in the 1840s, and permanent farms followed in the 1850s. For a century it stayed quiet farm country.
In February 1961 residents voted to incorporate, mostly to avoid being annexed by a larger neighbor. A federally backed planned community called Flower Mound New Town was announced in 1970 and faded by 1976. What really changed the town was the airport. DFW International opened just to the south in 1974, and pilots, flight attendants, mechanics and airline managers began building homes along Cross Timbers Road and the streets near Grapevine Lake.
That airline history is plain to see in the coins we get from Flower Mound. Crew members who flew international routes for decades came home with pockets of foreign change and leftover currency from dozens of countries. Most of it trades at little more than face value, if that. But some of those trips paid off: a silver crown from the 1960s, a Krugerrand bought on a South Africa layover, a set of British sovereigns, or Canadian Maple Leafs picked up in Toronto. We sort the world coins quickly and set aside anything gold or silver so the bulk does not bury it.
Flower Mound's larger lots and newer homes also mean a lot of home safes. When adult children clear out a parent's house in Wellington, Bridlewood or the streets around Parker Square, the safe often holds the good material: graded coins in slabs, Gold Eagles, and a roll of Silver Eagles. If the safe is heavy and full, call to set up a home appointment instead of hauling it out.
Parker Square and the shopping along FM 2499 have made the town feel more like a city lately, but many sellers here are still the first owners of their homes. That means they remember what they paid, and they want to see how today's offer compares. We show the live spot price on screen and explain each coin's grade, date and mint mark so the number makes sense.
Bring a photo ID, keep foreign paper money in a folder or envelope, and do not sort or clean anything ahead of time. We do the sorting with you.

Selling coins from Flower Mound
My father flew for an airline and left jars of foreign coins. Are they worth anything?
Most foreign pocket change sells for little, but those jars often hide silver or gold pieces. We sort them with you and point out which coins carry metal value and which do not.
Do you buy foreign paper money?
We look at it, but most modern foreign currency has little resale value outside a currency exchange. Old U.S. paper money, silver certificates and large-size notes are a different story, and we buy those.
Will you look at a collection at our Flower Mound house?
For larger estates and collections, yes: call to set up a home appointment. A rough idea of what is there helps us block out the right amount of time.
Is the appraisal tied to selling?
No. It costs nothing, and the written list is yours whether or not you sell. Some Flower Mound families use it only to split coins among siblings.
